On a Pennsylvania title transfer, every person whose name appears as an owner has to sign in front of me, and that catches people out when a title is held jointly and one owner is at work or living elsewhere. Bring the title itself rather than a photocopy, leave the signature lines blank until I am there, and have the odometer reading and the sale price ready, because those go on the form and corrections are not something you can pen in afterward. If the vehicle came from an estate, bring the short certificate or letters of administration too; I can notarize the executor’s signature, but the paperwork has to show the authority behind it.
Job-site signings are welcome and I am used to them. If you are on a site and can only break for fifteen minutes, tell me that when you book and I will come to you with everything ready to go rather than setting up at your truck for half an hour. Bring your ID in your pocket, not in the glovebox at the other end of the yard.
One thing I will not do, here or anywhere: complete a document for you. Pennsylvania does not permit a notary to fill in blanks, choose which form you need, or tell you what a clause means, and any of those crosses into practising law. What I can do is check the document over for empty spaces before we start, so you are not signing something with a gap in it, and point you back to the office that issued it if something is missing.
